May has been a very busy month with classes and there is still one more to teach. I have been taking photos during the classes. Teaching is first and taking photographs is secondary and sometimes it shows. Maybe my next class I take should be in photography! :-)
Spinning Ring - Thursday, May 4th, 2011
It was my first introduction to teaching at New Westminster Secondary School. It has a great metal arts classroom which was a treat to teach in. The staff for the continuing education program are wonderful and the school custodians were so helpful. It was especially important to get their help when we realized that the cord on the pickle pot wouldn't reach any of the outlets except one on the floor. That would have been awkward!
Epiphany Bracelet, Saturday, May 14th, 2011
This was an all day class and everyone rose to the challenge of learning how to solder and setting a faceted cubic zirconia with a beautiful bracelet as the end result.
Enamelling on Copper, Thursday, May 19th, 2011
This is always a fun class to teach! There's not as much technical "stuff" to learn and it's not long before the students are creating all sorts of masterpieces. I gave a hand-out with all the rules of enamelling basics and suggested everyone read them. Then I promptly proceeded to tell them how to break the rules. Not the safety ones of course. You'll notice that most of the students were wearing masks while they were working the enamelling powders.
Enamelling in progress and some examples of the fun and creativity of everyone.
Double Domed Sterling Silver Bead Pendant - Thursday, May 26th, 2011
This is an upcoming class and I'll post the photos as soon as I can.
Not all of the photos I took turned out, it didn't matter what I tried in photoshop. But if you would like to see photos of your projects from these classes on this page, please email them to me and I'll make sure they are included.I would love to see them!
Thanks to everyone who has participated in the classes and for allowing me to take these photos. It's always a fun memory for me to look back on them.
